Description & Details

RideBoard.ca is an organization dedicated to the education and awareness of Alternative Transportation Options across Canada. We currently promote ridesharing, carpool, and other alternative transportation through an online platform where information can be accessed for free, globally. Our organization is newly formed and 100% volunteer operated.

We are looking for a volunteer to assist with our web development efforts. You will be working alongside our executive committee with direct exposure to all aspects of a developing ride-share non-profit organization. This is an unpaid position requiring 5-8 hours weekly, including a remote weekly meeting with our executive team. This is a three-month position with the opportunity to continue within the organization.

As a Web Design Volunteer you will be responsible for following:

• Working with the web team to assist in the navigation of the site
• Contributing creative ideas to make the site more engaging and user friendly
• Assisting with creating newsletters and other engaging materials
• Assisting with incorporating social media access to the site and open up for comments
• Designing new promotional materials, creating templates, preparing presentation layouts and social media branding.
• Creating and editing video for marketing campaigns.
• Overseeing all aspects of the website and marketing to ensure brand consistency.

Skills and Attributes we are looking for include:

• Has completed a College Diploma/University Degree (or in progress)
• Strong WordPress application documentation, design, coding and testing experience
• Experience adapting and extending WordPress to meet changing website requirements.
• Proven analytical ability to create and modify application code to support new functionality
• Strong expertise with PHP, CSS3, JavaScript
• Advanced knowledge in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
• Experience with creating illustrations and video illustrations is an asset
• Experience with SEO (Search Engine Optimization, SEM (Search Engine Marketing) and Google Analytics concepts and techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Able to work within deadlines
• Creative
• Ability to work independently while contributing to cross functional teams
• Owns a laptop with Adobe Suite

You will be working exclusively with our current web designer and web content manager in efforts to increase brand awareness and develop the site for Summer 2017. If you are creative, self-motivated and are interested in making a difference we would love to hear from you!
